Stephen Kramer, MD
Medical Director
Board Certified Child/ Adolescent Psychiatrist

Stephen Kramer has been practicing as a child psychiatrist in California since 1992, when he completed his training in general psychiatry, with a subspecialty in child psychiatry, at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Dr. Kramer earlier had attained his undergraduate degree in psychology, also at University of Michigan, and his M.D. degree at University of South Florida, Tampa. He is board certified in general adult, and child psychiatry, by the American Board of Psychiatrists and Neurologists. While devoting most of his energy to his private practice, he has also worked in a variety of public and clinic settings. In 1998, he founded a disruptive behavior disorder evaluation clinic, ADD Clinics of Orange County, which was based on the medical model of assessment he learned at University of Michigan Hospital, a large tertiary care treatment center.

Through the clinic and other public sector psychiatry work, Dr. Kramer has developed an integrated approach to psychiatric disorders, especially in children. He views collaboration with allied disciplines, including psychologists, educators, and general medical physicians, as essential to formulating an accurate diagnosis and effective treatment plan for patients.

During his years of practice in California, he has been active in organized psychiatry and child psychiatry, with membership in the American Psychiatric Association, and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, since 1992. Through these professional affiliations, he was nominated to serve on the Orange County Mental Health Board in 2001. He also currently serves as consulting faculty at the Wright Institute of Los Angeles, and has been involved in continuing education programs at the Los Angeles Institute for Psychoanalytic Studies. While his main area of expertise is in the medication management of childhood and adult psychiatric illness, he also has extensive psychotherapy training and experience, and utilizes a combined medication/psychotherapy approach with many of his patients.
